It’s a huge honor to have been asked by the client, GIPHY to create this collection of stickers celebrating Asian-American Pacific Islander Heritage Month. I hope this collection brings its users as much pride and happiness as I felt creating it.
I am over the moon with how well the collection has been received by the AAPI community, trending continuously and amassing around 400 million views in the first 5 days.
Actors like Daniel Dae Kim, Jamie Chung, and companies like Asian American Girl Club have used them.
Inspiration for the collection came from experiences close to my heart such as Boston’s historical Chinatown gate, manga and anime, and food. To encompass a broader scope of AAPIH, which includes around 50 ethnic groups I included some symbols that can be cross-referenced across cultures such as the lotus, sampaguita, hibiscus, and tiger.
